The Western USA captivates with its vast deserts, towering mountains, and endless skies—each landscape a reminder of nature’s raw beauty. MOAB, Utah is the first place I experienced this raw beauty.
In the desert, composition is easy to find, however good composition is challenging to frame. These two shots, one of a green tree between a red-rock gorge and the other of the badlands and their bushes illustrate the desert’s wonder.
The vast space allows the sun to cast dramatic shadows on the red rocks. Working with the sun as an ally is hard to do in the blistering sun, but the results are worth it.
Pride’s Mountain, Virginia, has a beautiful view to wake up to. Their caretakers host non-profit events for veterans and children with disabilities. It was a pleasure to capture a few moments of the sun illuminating their pastures.
